(बीज स्फुट और क्षेत्र स्फुट)
वृहदपराशर होरा शास्त्र में महर्षि पराशर कहते हैं- पुरूष का शुक्राणु (वीर्य) संतानोत्पत्ति के लिए योग्य है, अथवा अयोग्य! और यदि योग्य है, तो उत्तम है, या मध्यम श्रेणी का है! इस प्रश्न का उत्तर बीज स्फुट गणना से देखना चाहिए-।
इसी प्रकार स्त्री के लिए “क्षेत्र स्फुट” ग्रह गणना से अनुमान हो सकता है कि स्त्री का गर्भाशय संतानोत्पत्ति के लिए योग्य है, अथवा उत्तम या मध्यम है, या फिर अयोग्य है।
महर्षि ने वृहद पराशर होरा शास्त्र में उल्लेख किया है कि जिस प्रकार उपजाऊ भूमि में उत्तम बीज बोया जाये तो अच्छी फसल होती है, मध्यम भूमि में उत्तम बीज से मध्यम श्रेणी की फसल होती है, और मध्यम भूमि में मध्यम श्रेणी का बीज परिणाम इसी अनुसार होता है। और इसी प्रकार बंजर भूमि में कितना ही उत्तम बीज बोने से परिणाम शून्य ही होता है। और मध्यम बीज से भी परिणाम शून्य होता है, इसी प्रकार स्त्री के गर्भाशय को महर्षि ने क्षेत्र बताते हुए कहा है कि, इस ज्योतिषीय गणना पद्धति से देखना चाहिए कि स्त्री का गर्भाशय स्वस्थ (गर्भ धारण योग्य) है या नहीं।
डाॅक्टर विभिन्न प्रकार कि जाँच करने के बाद भी जो नही बता पाते, वो ज्योतिषी चंद मिनटों मे गणना करके बता सकते हैं। दम्पत्ती के जीवन मे संतान होने या ना होने के विचार के लिये ज्योतिष मे पंचम भाव, पंचमेश, संतान कारक बृहस्पति आदि पर विचार करने के ज्योतिषीय नियम बताये गये हैं, किन्तु महर्षि पाराशर ने संतान के विषय में एक क्रान्तिकारी ज्योतिषीय सूत्र दिया है, सूत्र यह है- पुरूष कि जन्म कुण्डली मे बीज स्फुट कि गणना, तथा स्त्री कि जन्म कुण्डली मे क्षेत्र स्फुट कि गणना करना। डाॅक्टर अनेक प्रकार कि जाँच करने के बाद भी यह ठीक से निर्णय नही कर पाते हैं कि समस्या पुरूष के शुक्राणुओं मे है, या स्त्री के गर्भाशय में। डाॅक्टर अनेक बार शारीरिक तौर पर पति-पत्नी को फिट बताते हैं, लेकिन फिर भी संतान के जन्म में बाधा उत्पन्न हो जाती है। लेकिन बीज स्फुट ओर क्षेत्र स्फुट कि गणना करके नि:संतान दंपत्ति को यह स्पष्ट रूप से बताया जा सकता है कि, रोग किसके शरीर में है।
क्या मेडिकल कि सहायता से संतान का जन्म हो सकेगा? बीज के वृक्ष बनने के लिये उसे उपजाऊ भूमि कि आवश्यकता होती है, अगर भूमि बंजर है तो बीज वृक्ष ना बन सकेगा। स्त्री कि जन्म कुण्डली मे क्षेत्र स्फुट कि गणना गर्भ के ठीक भूमि कि तरह उपजाऊ, बंजर या मध्यम होने का पता लगाने जैसा है। अगर स्त्री कि जन्मकुंडली मे क्षेत्र स्फुट सही आता है ओर पुरूष कि जन्म कुण्डली मे बीज स्फुट मध्यम आता हो या सही नही आता है तो मेडिकल ओर ज्योतिषीय उपाय वहाँ निःसंतान दंपत्ति कि सहायता कर सकते है। लेकिन क्षेत्र स्फुट के खराब होने पर मेडिकल ओर ज्योतिषीय उपाय सहायक नही हो पाते है।
आज के समय मे चिकित्सा विज्ञान के साथ यदि ज्योतिष विज्ञान को जोड़कर कार्य किया जाये तो चिकित्सा विज्ञान ओर अधिक सरल बन सकेगा। कुंडली में संतानोत्पत्ति और संतान सुख के लिए विशेष तौर पर पंचम भाव से देखा जाता है, किंतु कुंडली विश्लेषण करते समय हमें बहुत से तथ्यों पर ध्यान देना बहुत ही आवश्यक है। संतान के सुख-दु:ख का विचार सप्तमेश, नवमेश, पंचमेश तथा गुरु से किया जाता है। नवम स्थान जातक का भाग्य स्थान भी है, और पंचम स्थान से पांचवा स्थान भी होता है, इस कारण भी नवमेश पर दृष्टि रखना बतलाया गया है। बृहस्पति संतान और पुत्र का कारक है, अतएव बृहस्पति पर दृष्टि रखना आवश्यक है।
इसके अलावा एक महत्वपूर्ण बात यह भी है कि पुराने शास्त्रों में एक मंत्र लिखा है, कारकों भावः नाशयः इसका अर्थ यह हुआ कि जिस भाव का जो कारक होता है, वह उस भाव में स्थित हो तो, उस भाव का नाश करता है। इसलिए गुरु यदि पंचम भाव में हो तो बहुत बार देखा गया है कि संतान संबंधी चिंता व कष्ट रहते हैं। लग्न, चंद्रमा और बृहस्पति से पंचम भाव यदि पाप ग्रहों से युत अथवा दृष्ट हो, शुभ ग्रहों से युति या दृष्ट ना हो तो तीनो पंचम भाव पापग्रहों के मध्य पापकर्तरी स्थित हो तथा उनके स्वामी त्रिक 6 8 12 वे भाव में स्थित हो तो, जातक संतानहीन होता है। फलित शास्त्र के सभी ग्रंथो में इसका उल्लेख मिलता है।
अनेक प्राचीन विज्ञजनों ने यह लिखा है कि, यदि पंचम भाव में वृषभ, सिंह, कन्या अथवा वृश्चिक राशि हो तो, अल्प संतति होती है, या दीर्घ अवधि के बाद संतान लाभ मिलता है। ज्योतिष में हर विषय पर बहुत ही विस्तृत और बहुत ही बड़ा साहित्य मिलता है, और अनेक प्रकार के उपाय या विधियां दी हुई हैं, लेकिन मुख्य तौर पर कुछ सूत्र हैं, जिनके आधार पर हम संतान योग को अच्छी तरह से पता लगा सकते हैं, इसमें सबसे बड़ा सूत्र है बीज स्फुट और क्षेत्र स्फुट। बीज स्फुट से तात्पर्य पुरुष की कुंडली के ग्रहो की स्तिथि से है। अगर कोई फसल बोई तो बीज हमको उत्तम चाहिए यदि बीज अच्छा नहीं होगा तो कभी भी फसल अच्छी नहीं होगी। इसी प्रकार क्षेत्र स्फुट मतलब हम खेत से भी समझ सकते हैं, यदि खेत अच्छा नहीं होगा तो कितने भी अच्छे बीज बो देवें उसके अंदर फसल अच्छी नहीं होगी, अतः पुरुष की कुंडली में बीज स्फुट और स्त्री की कुंडली मे क्षेत्र स्फुट की गणना बतलाई गयी है, जिससे भी संतान योग का अंदाज लगाया जा सकता है।
बीज स्फुट की गणना में हम पुरुष की कुंडली में सूर्य गुरु और शुक्र के भोगांश को जोड़कर एक राशि निकालते हैं, यदि वह राशि विषम होगी और नवांश में भी उसकी विषम में स्थिति होगी तो बीज शुभ होगा, और साथ ही यदि एक सम और दूसरा विषम है तो, मध्यम फल होंगे और दोनों सम राशियां होगी तो, अशुभ फल होंगे, और बीज अशुभ होगा।
स्त्री की कुंडली में क्षेत्र स्फुट की गणना में हमें चंद्रमा मंगल और गुरु के भोगांशों को जोड़ना पड़ेगा, और भोगांशो को जोड़ने के बाद जो राशि आएगी वह राशि यदि सम होगी और नवमांश में भी उसकी सम स्थिति होगी तो, क्षेत्र स्फुट अच्छा होगा साथ ही एक सम व दूसरी विषम है तो, मध्यम फल होंगे और दोनों विषम हुई तो अशुभ फल होंगे व स्त्री सन्तान उत्पन्न करने में सक्षम नही होगी।

Apart from this, one more value is computed for both male and female. This is called Santaan Tithi or Putra Tithi. This is computed as:
- Take longitude of Sun and Moon. Multiply by 5 and take the difference. Difference = 5 * (Moon Lon – Sun Lon)
- Take the remainder while dividing by 360. Remainder = MOD(Difference,360)
- Compute the Tithi as usual. Date = Remainder/12, Tithi = CEILING(MOD(Date,15),1)
- If this Tithi is one of the chhidra tithis (4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 14th) or Amavasya, then there is a problem.
However, both of the calculations must be looked at in conjunction with the rest of the effects on the 5th house. I present some of the data based on the charts that I have gathered over the years.

The points that are to be noted are:
- Santaan tithi is very important and must be considered.
- Afflictions to 5th house & Karaka are far more important than Beeja/Kshetra sphuta. Medical science is advanced enough now to take care of basic problems.
- Planets such as Saturn aspecting its own sign in 5th will indeed provide children, but Saturn’s basic nature of causing delays will not go away.
- Rahu’s position in 5th house is different from Rahu’s drishti on the house. Rahu in 5th house can cause bahu-putra yoga. But Rahu as a malefic can afflict 5th house and lord through conjunction/drishti.
- One partner’s horoscope affects the other. Issues with beeja sphuta and santaan tithi in husband’s horoscope affects the wife and vice versa. This is not one of the points discussed while discussing horoscope-compatibility. This is a problem that needs to be solved as a couple.
Of course, Dasha and Transit system is above this. Without favourable dasha/transit, it is not possible to have kids.
